Little Rosy Cheeks Maize Dress

Little Rosy Cheeks Maize Dress

Buy the Maize Dress sewing pattern from Little Rosy Cheeks. The Maize Dress is a new take on the classic T-shirt dress. Designed with comfort and versatility in mind, Maize pairs a knit bodice with a woven skirt, creating a dress that feels as good as it looks and offers endless fabric mixing possibilities.

There are two options to choose from. Both views have a crew neck, finished with rib fabric, and a softly gathered woven skirt. View A features a pleat at the bottom of the bodice, neatly covering the maxi length skirt, which has patch pockets for a little extra detail. View B offers a simpler, more streamlined look with a midi length skirt and in-seam side pockets.

Sewing level: Confident beginner

Suggested fabrics: Maize is made with both stretch and woven fabrics: stretch fabric for the top and woven fabric for the skirt.

The top part of the dress must be made with knit fabric with no less than 30% stretch. Cotton based jerseys are ideal, with around 95% cotton and 5% spandex/lycra. A French terry (loop back jersey) or light to medium weight sweatshirt fabric is recommended, as this is a good weight for pairing with the woven fabric of the skirt. Ribbed fabric is recommended for the neckband (for extra stretch), although you can use the same fabric as for the top.

For the skirt, the designer recommends a woven fabric such as cotton lawn or cotton poplin. You could also use a denim chambray, linen or viscose.

Fabric requirements:

110 cm (43") wide fabric: Top, 140 - 150 cm (1 1/2 - 1 3/4 yd) // View A Skirt, 226 - 400 cm (2 1/2 - 4 1/2 yd) // View B Skirt, 205 - 360 cm (2 1/4 - 4 yd).

150 cm (59") wide fabric: Top, 100 - 120 cm (1 1/4 yd) // View A Skirt, 200 - 225 cm (2 1/4 - 2 1/2 yd) // View B Skirt, 180 - 205 cm (2 - 2 1/4 yd).

Rib fabric: 75 cm (29.5") wide fabric: 10 cm (1/4 yd).

Sizing: 6 – 30 (approx. UK 6/8 – 32, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer's size chart and finished garment measurements.

The Maize Dress was drafted for a B cup and a height of 5'7" (170 cm).

Notions: Seam tape (optional).

PDF pattern includes: Instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (40 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (3 sheets) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: No.
