Paradise Patterns Solig Dress

Paradise Patterns Solig Dress

Buy the Solig Dress sewing pattern from Paradise Patterns. Solig is a simple dress with a sleek silhouette, suitable for beginners as well as advanced sewists. View A features an elastic back and feels more secure around the bust than View B which has a slightly scooped gathered back with ties. Both views have a gently curved front neckline with side seam bust darts and thin straps. You can choose to make a maxi length version with or without side seam slits, or a mini version. The neckline is finished with a facing that covers your entire bust. The instructions will walk you through installing elastic in the facing hem to make it into a low support built-in bralette, if you so choose.

Sewing level: Confident beginner

This sewing pattern is available to buy in the following formats:

– PDF (available to download immediately after purchase). What is a PDF?

– PDF pattern + Printed A0 copy shop (We print out the A0 pattern sheets, but you’ll need to download the digital instructions, as we don’t print these. The PDF files will be emailed immediately after purchase, and the A0 pattern sheets will be dispatched next working day). What is Copy Shop?

Note if purchasing copy shop printing: One of the pattern pieces has been split (to fit on the A0 sheet) and will need to be joined together.

Suggested fabrics: This pattern is designed for woven fabrics and the look of it will change depending on the fabric you choose. A crepe will make it date night ready, whereas a linen or cotton will make it the perfect everyday summer dress. Other options include seersucker for ultimate coolness, cotton poplin for a crisp and billowy silhouette, or rayon/tencel for a beautiful drape. If choosing a thicker fabric, like linen, you may want to use a matching lighter weight fabric for the facing/bralette.

Fabric requirements: The designer suggests buying 0.25 yd/m more in case the fabric shrinks in the pre-wash.

View A (maxi): 45" (115 cm) wide fabric*: 2.75 - 3.5 yd (2.5 - 3.2 m) // 58" (147 cm) wide fabric: 1.75 - 3 yd (1.6 - 2.7 m).

View B (mini): 45" (115 cm) wide fabric: 1.5 - 2.5 yd (1.4 - 2.3 m) // 58" (147 cm) wide fabric: 1.25 - 1.75 yd (1.1 - 1.6 m).

* For View A, sizes 28-30 need fabric at least 48" (122 cm) wide, or the back cut in two pieces.

Sizing: 00 – 30 (approx. UK 6 – 32, based on our standardised size chart). Please also check the designer’s size chart and finished garment measurements.

Notions: 1/2" (1.2 cm) wide elastic (see chart); rat tail cord or loop turner for straps.

PDF pattern includes: Step-by-step instructions; A4/US letter print-at-home pattern (36 pages); A0 copy shop pattern (2 sheets) // Layers: Yes // Projector file: Yes.
